Joaquin! You're now 4 years old! We've had birthday parties for you on your 1st, 2nd and 3rd birthdays. This year, we just had a simple advance celebration with your classmates in school yesterday. You really enjoyed sharing the Mcdo Happy Meal Kung Fu Panda toys with them and being sang the birthday song for your special day. This is the first time we celebrated with your friends and we'd glad that you really felt special and enjoyed your special day with them. We thank Cake Avenue Bakeshop for the yummy chocolate cake. On your actual birthday, we had to say thank you to Jesus for the gift of you in our lives. We prayed for special graces to be upon you especially for today. We then strolled around the mall, rode the train, tried go karting and took our sweet time ... [ Read More ]
When Times Are Tough, Focus On The Bright Side
I've always looked forward to the start of a new year. New beginnings, new opportunities, new learnings. It's always a chance to start anew and make better versions of ourselves. The start of the year was a test of patience, maturity & understanding for my husband and I. Basically, our helper who has been with us in taking care of Joaquin since he was 1 month old didn't come back at the set date of her return to us. The last we heard was that she got sick and was recuperating. But after a few more days, we couldn't contact both her phones and there was no way to reach her and to know what had happened. Part of me was worried about how she was and what could have happened to her already. Part of me was also worried that she might not come back at all. But part of me was also ... [ Read More ]
Remembering Our Little Angel In Heaven
Today as we celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels, I can't help but reminded of our own little angel in heaven. You see, before Joaquin came into our lives, we had already gotten pregnant 2 months after getting married in 2010. After both positive pregnancy and blood tests, Wally and I were ecstatic. At about 5 weeks, I had some spotting but since it was my first pregnancy, we had no idea that it was more than the ordinary. At 6 1/2 weeks, I felt a sharp pain on my right side. Since I had a high tolerance for pain, I thought it was just part of early pregnancy. Over the night, the pain disappeared and I thought that everything was ok. The next day, we went to our OB and I was asked to have my 1st ultrasound in the hospital. They didn't see a fertilized egg. However, they saw a ... [ Read More ]
A Date With My Toddler
My 3-year old son is growing up so fast. I could still remember feeling him squirm in my tummy while I was still pregnant. The 12 hours of labor that made me a stronger woman that I already was. The sleepless nights and breastfeeding struggles we had until he was 1 year old. The first time steps he took, being potty trained and singing silly songs. Haaay..... time indeed flies very fast. From one milestone to the next with matching photos and videos to boot, I have always watched with pride and much love. Last night was another milestone for me and my toddler, we actually had an impromtu one on one date at a coffee shop. We were waiting for my husband and so I decided to bring him inside Starbucks. I asked him what he wanted to order. He said he wanted the "brown" donut. I ... [ Read More ]
Run! Run! Run! A Toddler Playdate
Good morning cloudy day! It was the perfect morning to run around outdoors! Joaquin's Ninang Steph invited us over for a playdate with John Paul at the Manila Polo Club. Both are them are in the toddler stage so they are filled with curiosity and energy in exploring anything and everything around them. At first, it was just the playground area where they played on the slides, see-saws and this "vehicle" that the 2 boys really enjoyed. It was a good thing that they had their turns with it! After a few minutes, the 2 boys were led by their Ninang Steph to the big, empty field where they played with the ball. Here's our little Joaquin enjoying his giant playground! He was actually running, kicking the ball then running towards it again. Hmmm.... a future soccer play, perhaps? I think ... [ Read More ]
